I always went for the blue palette - always. I was so comfortable using the blue tones. But lately.... red of really over-taking and I can't get enough of it! The blue was screaming at me to paint over it - so I went with my gut and now my background is ready to start on. Maybe its a new life-style, maybe a new attitude - lighter/brighter/freer..... who knows but this feels more 'right' to me. I'm working over three at once, stitching away. I find my peace in this meditative aspect of my process. I get totally involved in the rhythm of stitching. It is calming and methodical after the madness of painting and drawing and washing my paper, and painting again and using ink, and washing my paper - on and on. I love that part of my process for sure, but to sit and stitch almost trance-like is a great way to end a piece. The CHAOS and the THREAD.
